My complaints with UoP are many and complex, but at some point they all lead back to my active duty military service. I was recruited into the online Doctoral program and assured by my enrolment counselor that UoP worked with the military all the time and they were understanding of the unique requirements and needs of active duty military personnel. I was assured UoP would happily work with me in the event service related commitments conflicted with academic requirements. I discovered when required to move during the middle of a semester, none of that was true.

My situation in a nutshell is that I received a C+ in a class where the University did not grade in accordance with its own published syllabus and that my work had to be done in advance so I could pull up stakes and move. I was not given credit for work made up after the move and my instructor interpreted the requirements differently than ALL my previous instructors and because of my relocation requirements, I didn't discover this until five or six weeks into the class.

Although I believe I have a strong case for a grade grievance, the University appears to lack integrity when asked to review its own instructors and the appeal process is ongoing. Meanwhile, because I'm using the Montgomery G.I. Bill to pay for my courses, and the VA considers a C+ passing, it will not pay for the same class again. The university requires this class to continue on my degree path and wants me to pay for it out of pocket. I of course cannot afford to pay for a class again out of pocket, nor do I believe I should under the circumstances.

The financial dept billed me several fees related to me dropping out of full time status. I am still appealing the grade and/or the whole class and explained I didn't drop out, I just cannot continue until this issue is resolved. Of course the financial folks at UoP see academic issues as separate from financial ones so they reported a collection item to the credit reporting agencies despite being made fully aware of the ongoing dispute. The issue to me is disingenuous representation of the school and its policies/programs related to my active duty service commitments when I was recruited along with breach of contract related to UoP's failure to adhere to its published syllabus.

I'm seeking resolution in the form od a request/demand for all of the $ I and Uncle Sam spent at UoP and that it be returned so that I might reapply it towards a degree at an institution operating in good faith.
