Thanks to Remove Rip Off Report I didn't fall into this companies trap.

Starbizz Entertainment is a company located in Scottsdale, AZ and has been scamming parents for years now. They will lure you in with one of their commercials. Sit you in front of a camera saying they are going to send that to a clothing company for up coming shoot, when in fact the camera isn't even on.

They will then call you later that day to tell you your kid made it and that their were 3 other offers in so that you will go back and buy one of their photo packages and sign a contract saying the first photo shoot is not paid for.

After your first photo shoot you will never hear from them again. They have been doing this over and over and the magazines they supposaly shoot for, I've never heard of. This company is guilty of false advertising, and fraud.

What are you talking about?

I went to Starbiz a while back and they called me wanting me to come in and talk more. They said they liked me on the tape and wanted to take me on as a client. They were very specific in explaining the difference between a talent company and an agency. Talent company you have to pay for everything up front and an agency you do not.

Before I committed to anything I checked it out for my self. I called a couple different agency's and they all said the same thing. They also said it would be easier going through a talent company to get an agent to notice you rather then just trying out for the agency its self.

I than called Bruce back and told him I was interested in signing with them. I then went back in to sign the contract. Bruce put me down for my photo shoot and told me Annie would be taking my pictures. I showed up to the photo shoot and Annie did take my pictures. I then got them back about 2weeks later. They did turn out really good. At that time they had a company looking for people to audition for a commercial. They sent me and I actually got the commercial. Bruce told me upfront that since I didn't really have any experience that I would not get paid for my first one.

So I did the commerical anyway so I can get something under my belt. Bruce contacted me about 3weeks later about a production company looking for extras. I went to meet the production company and got a role in the movie Mickey Bullock. It was an independit film but it was a start. I read some of these reports and I understand that you are stressed out about not getting work right a way. I just ask you guys not to give up on Bruce he is a good guy. Also keep in mind it has alot to do with the time of year.

You must always remember Arizona is a right to work state so the production companys and print companys have a right not to pay you. Some of them choose that, however there are alot out there that do pay and pay pretty good. Just keep your ear to the grindstone and you will get work. This is not L.A. so work is a little more complex out here then out there.

Your not getting it

Just your not getting it the fact is that he makes you buy a photo package saying that he has 4 offers on the table then after you buy the photo package, he'll send you to a photo shoot and never hear from him again. After spending the $600 and getting paid nothing. Sure it takes time to get discovered and make big bucks. I've owned a modeling agency before and never charged a model anything to pose for me or photos. These modeling agencies who charge for a portfolio are ripping people off. A true modeling agency only requires a poloroid of a head shot and a body shot.

This is why they were on Channel 15 last night

As a former model from Miami, I can tell you that these are the type of people that give "show business" a bad name. They lie, cheat, and steal. They promise you everything and deliever you an empty bank account or a charged credit card. My grandmother used to say that a leopard doesn't change it's spots overnight...If a person has scammed others, it's just a matter of time before you're scammed. They take advantage of those that want to get into the industry. There is NO EASY WAY to get into the business.

When it comes to acting, a person should sign up with a reputable agency in town that handles actors...not a talent promotion company. If it comes to modeling...I sent 2 photos into 4 agencies when I was 15 in Miami and got 2 callbacks. I signed with a highly recognized agency and then had photo shoot to do my comp cards...there was no paying anyone involoved.
I wish you the best of luck, but really, I think they have already blindsided you with lies of the industry...Go to the libarary and do research, go on the internet and search on reputatble names.

If anyone else reads this...please do your research before spending any money, at all.
