When people apply for grants, the government should investigate the applicant and the history of the applicant and applicants living situation as some people know exactly how to take full advantage of the system. Having grown up in Malone, NY, I have the advantage of knowing the family history of this lady. Cathy grew up in a family that took advantage of the system. Cathy lives in an apartment with her daughter and grandchild. Her ex-husband and Cathy split the profits from the sale of the home, which was a large sum, after the divorce. Cathy's daughter is unwed and has a child. Cathy's boyfriend, Bob, is employed as a manager of a Department Store in Malone. Cathy spoke of how she received a large income tax return, much more than she had paid in taxesd because she claimed her daughter (who did work under the table) and her grandchild as dependents. Her daughter also attended college free because of the child and her income level (her claimed wages - that is). The Grandchild went to day for $15.00 a week! (Also, because of the low income). Her daugher, dropped out of college, without getting her degreee, she only needed one course to graduate. Cathy then deciddes to purchase a home, (she is engaged to Bob, now and Bob owns a home). She receives a very low interest rate as this is the first home she has purchased. She buys a house and received a $25,000 Grant! Bob, then marries her, rents his house and they live happily ever after - after screwing the Government!! I did forget to mention, that Bob has a son and his son has so many toys he can't possibly play with all of them. These toys are too numerous and big to keep in the house so they are above the garage, his son's play room. The toys include but are not limited to: a full size pool table, an electronic basketball game, a fooze ball table and and an electonic dart board! Now don't YOU THINK THE GOVERMENT SHOULD pay a bit more attention to things before giving out $25,000 Grants that do not need to be paid back!!! Mary Malone, New York U.S.A. | |
